Setting up Clozure with Slime for FreeBSD

Download and compile Clozure

svn co http://svn.clozure.com/publicsvn/openmcl/release/1.9/freebsdx86/ccl
cd ccl
./fx86cl

? (rebuild-ccl :full t)
... some compile messages ...
? (quit)

Test Clozure

./fx86cl
? (+ 3 5)

The system output should be 8.

Get Quicklisp to make life with Slime easier

Get http://beta.quicklisp.org/quicklisp.lisp and save it, for example, in ccl

./fx86cl --load quicklisp.lisp
? (quicklisp-quickstart:install)
? (ql:quickload :quicklisp-slime-helper)

Download Slime

cvs -d :pserver:anonymous:anonymous@common-lisp.net:/project/slime/cvsroot co slime

Get emacs.txt

Change the pathnames to the appropriate paths to your fx86cl file and the slime sources. In case you already got a .emacs file, add the contents of emacs.txt to .emacs. If not change the file name to .emacs.

Using Clozure with Slime

Start the emacs with

emacs

Type <alt-key> x slime

Slime will be loaded.
